have you ever questioned why you’re living such a happy, blessed life while people are begging for food, shelter, and money? why do you have parents who take care of you, while an orphan has nothing? you’re in your own room with the AC on, wrapped in a blanket, scrolling through facebook, instagram, twitter, while there are so many who are suffering on the streets.

i always used to complain about life, thinking it’s not fair. i’d wonder why i earned less than 20K per month while Elon Musk made billions and more. i never compared myself to those in lower positions. i took all my blessings for granted. to this day, i find myself complaining about this and that every day. Ya Allah, forgive me when i complain about my life.

i was waiting for my Uber at midnight when, out of the blue, a man came up to me and begged to polish my shoes. the look on his face was very sad, and with just a single glance, i could tell how challenging his life had been. but my Uber was only three minutes away…

he had two complaints. first, people nowadays usually take care of their own shoes, and they don’t think about folks like them who rely on this work to support their families.

second, when shoes get a little old, many people throw them away and buy new ones. but those old shoes can actually be fixed up and made to look almost new again with a bit of polish, which helps them earn a living.

who would tell them that it’s 2023, a digital world, and everything is changing so rapidly that their occupation is no longer needed? because footwear, shoes are no longer a luxury. with just 150 BDT, you can buy a Louboutin. of course, it’s not the real deal, but it’s not so bad compared to the originals.

so, if you ever encounter such a person and an occupation like this one, give them a helping hand. watch some Free Motion and help them as much as you can. know that you will surely be questioned on the Day of Reckoning.
